Vacuum sealers have been around for a few decades now and are basically the same as the originals. The only difference is that there is now a less expensive version for home use.
These home use vacuum sealers are FDA approved for home use, but are not approved for use in a commercial establishment. If you want to package and resale items, you’ll need to get one that is approved for commercial use. The difference will be about a few thousand dollars.
Vacuum food storage basically works by drawing all of the air out of the bag so that your food can remain fresh much longer. You’ll easily be able to avoid freezer burn and you’ll save money by buying food in bulk.
Home Vacuum Sealer Reviews
One thing to note when reading home vacuum sealer reviews is that home vacuum sealers will not always work well with wet foods or foods that are full of liquid that might run out after sealing.
This is a very easy fix. Although it is a problem with even the best vacuum sealer for home use, it really isn’t an issue. The way to get around this is to put the item in the bag and pop it in the freezer for a little while. Once things start to harden, you then take it out and seal it with the vacuum sealer.

The FoodSaver V2240 Advanced Design Vacuum Food Sealer
The FoodSaver 2240 is one of the most reasonably priced home use vacuum sealers on the market. This sealer is also a reasonable size for a home counter top. This can be important for people with lots of appliances or a small kitchen.
FoodSaver is also a well known an reputable brand in the vacuum sealer maker industry. Get this vacuum sealer and you won’t have any trouble with moldy bread or freezer burned meat again.

The Weston is a heavy duty extra large sealer that can seal bags that are 15 inches in width. This sealer is also very fast and good for when you have to seal a few items at one sitting.
There are two reasons why I rate this lower than the FoodSaver. The first is that it cost more than three times more. Also, this sealer is very bulky and can take up a lot of room on your counter top.
